Today’s Short #Poem 144

Victorian Wood is Good

Your hands belong
touching old gloss
worn down well
smooth and tapered
and old perspex, warm,
scratched, like history, is OK too.

Someone etched the glass
in the front door. Acid patterns
and cut bevels give us rainbows
and stretch and shrink the folk
who walk the pavement.
The steel bell
is a wake-you-up bell.
